Caryn Hodge recently hosted her third gold party at her Holmes Beach home.

Guests can bring in jewelery they no longer wear or want and get cash on the spot for it.

She says so far she's earned more than $300.

"Everybody can use the extra cash right now," Hodge said. "Whether it's helping pay bills or something special for themselves."

"Gold prices have just went up from five, six years ago," Mikel said.

The jewelry doesn't have to be in perfect shape to sell it. It can be tangled, mismatched, or even smashed. Most of the time guests will get more than they thought you would.

David Zaccagnino earned $50 for an old ring and necklace.

"I thought maybe $5, $10 but $50?," Zaccagnino said. "I was like 'cool.'"

''I felt really weird about coming to a party like this at first,'' said Davis, who had come to her friend's house on a Wednesday evening for her first gold party. ``I circled the table like a vulture a couple times.''
But Davis' nervousness about selling her old, unwanted gold pieces was gone later in the evening as she proudly announced that she had just made $525.
''I'm shocked I got this much,'' she said. ``I was expecting maybe a couple hundred dollars. . . . I'm glad I came.''

Pamela Silva anchor for Spanish television's Univision 23’s and TeleFutura 69’s Morning Newscasts attended one of our parties in Miami to report on the growing trend of in home gold parties. As the economy plummets on a daily basis I am amazed at how many people are just sitting back waiting for someone (government) to take care of them. It is hard to talk to anyone without hearing tales of misfortune and how bad things are.

Don't get me wrong I know things aren't great, but I have also done a large of amount of reading about the great depression and how many individuals became millionaires during that period because they were able to adapt and capitalize on opportunities that prospered.

Everyone in our country has the same opportunity but it takes action and the willingness to try something new.

Now is the time to find an opportunity that will not only survive but one that will prosper in this scary time in our nations history. In 50 years from now there will be individuals that will be talked about because of what they were able to accomplish in 2009.
